According to Defensa Central, Luka Modric is planning a return to Real Madrid once his playing career comes to an end.
The 40-year-old Croatian midfielder, currently at AC Milan, has reportedly received a personal offer from Florentino Pérez to return to the club — either as an ambassador or as a coach within Real Madrid’s youth academy. Modric is said to be enthusiastic about the idea of working with young players and beginning his coaching career at Valdebebas.
Before taking on his new role, Modric intends to take a sabbatical year to rest and spend time with his family after leaving Milan. During that period, he also plans to complete his coaching courses to prepare for his next chapter in football.
Despite his age, Modric continues to be a key figure at AC Milan, admired for his leadership and professionalism both on and off the pitch.
For now, his focus remains on the 2026 World Cup, where he hopes to end his international career with Croatia on a high note. After that, a sentimental return to Real Madrid — this time in a new capacity — appears to be only a matter of time.
