FIFA has officially announced that the draw for the expanded 32-team Club World Cup will take place on December 5, 2024, in Miami. The tournament, which will be played in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025, has generated significant anticipation as it introduces a new format designed by Gianni Infantino.
The draw, scheduled for 7 p.m. (Spanish time), will reveal the matchups for the eight groups, each consisting of four teams. These teams will compete in a round-robin format, with the top two from each group advancing to the knockout stages. The tournament will culminate in a single-match final on July 13, with no third-place play-off.
Currently, 31 of the 32 teams have qualified, with the final spot reserved for the winner of the upcoming Libertadores final between Botafogo and Atlético Mineiro. FIFA has also confirmed the use of 12 prestigious stadiums across the U.S. for the tournament and revealed the competition rules, a new logo, and a mega sponsor.
The revamped Club World Cup will see each team play seven matches en route to the title, promising a spectacular display of football from the world’s top clubs.
