In an atmosphere filled with excitement and heartfelt emotion, Spanish tennis legend and current Mutua Madrid Open director Feliciano López unveiled his latest endeavor: the ESS Feli López Academy. The project aims to nurture young tennis talent in Spain, focusing not only on athletic development but also on academic growth.

During the presentation, López also spoke about Real Madrid’s current situation, especially regarding the likely departure of Carlo Ancelotti to manage Brazil. "On one hand, it saddens me that a coach like him—who has given so much to Real Madrid—won’t be finishing his contract. But on the other hand, I’m thrilled that Xabi Alonso is set to take over," he said.

He praised Xabi’s potential, highlighting both his playing career and his managerial skills: "Xabi is a star. I admired him as a player, and I believe he’ll offer a lot as a coach. He’s respectful, composed, and has already shown at Leverkusen that he can lead a team with limited resources. I think he can do great things at Madrid."

López didn’t hold back his admiration for Ancelotti either: "Carlo is a phenomenon. He’s been instrumental in Madrid’s recent triumphs. If there’s anyone capable of handling the pressure in Brazil and getting the best out of that squad, it’s him."

Closing his remarks, López emphasized that he’s not someone who supports only when things are going well. "I’ve always admired Xabi Alonso—even more so now. I’m confident he’ll bring a lot of value to Real Madrid. And I’ll be one of those defending him when times get tough," he concluded.
