Real Madrid have issued a medical report on Fede Valverde after the midfielder suffered an ankle injury during the derby against Atlético Madrid.
“Following tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a severe injury to his left ankle, sustained in this afternoon's match. Valverde will undergo further tests in the coming hours,” the club stated.
The tackle by Kang-In Lee on Valverde was the incident that caused the most frustration within Real Madrid and José Mourinho, even more so than Cuti Romero’s challenge on Jude Bellingham.
The club does not understand how neither the referee on the pitch nor VAR intervened over an incident that, in Real Madrid’s view, was clear on television.
Valverde was able to finish the match despite the injury, but he will undergo further medical tests in the coming hours to determine the full extent of the problem. His availability for the upcoming international fixtures is now also in doubt.
