In the closing moments of Real Madrid’s match against FC Bayern Munich, Facundo Campazzo attempted to get a foul with his team trailing 92-89. However, the call did not go his way, leading to a heated confrontation with the referees. Campazzo, visibly frustrated, was issued a technical foul and subsequently disqualified for continuing to protest. His teammate, Serge Ibaka, had to intervene, restraining the Argentinian guard as he continued to shout at the officials from a distance.
Now, the EuroLeague Judge will determine the extent of Campazzo’s punishment. According to MARCA's Nacho Duque, the decision is expected next week, with the likely outcome being either a suspension or a fine. Given recent precedents and the absence of serious insults, it is speculated that the matter may be settled with a fine.
For context, last season Wade Baldwin received a €3,500 fine for a dispute with a referee during Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv's game against Baskonia. Meanwhile, Serbian player Milos Teodosic faced a two-game suspension and a €15,000 fine after disrespecting referee Juan Carlos Garcia Gonzalez in a match against Anadolu Efes.
