Tensions around the Real Madrid presidential elections have intensified following recent statements made by Florentino Pérez regarding the club’s future ownership model.
Candidate Enrique Riquelme addressed the media at his campaign headquarters in response to Pérez’s interview with El País, where the current president discussed proposed structural changes within the club.
Riquelme described the situation as highly serious and issued a direct appeal to supporters.
"I ask everyone to make the result of these elections the clearest possible message: Real Madrid is not for sale . This must be the biggest mobilization in our history," he explained.
While strongly opposing the ownership model he attributes to Pérez, Riquelme also acknowledged the incumbent president’s achievements.
"He has been a great president, but that doesn't give him the right to sell the club, and he has crossed a red line. This week I will go to the notary to sign my commitment that I will never sell the club; I invite him to come with me. These elections are no longer normal elections; they are a referendum on whether or not to sell the club ," he declared.
