Real Madrid's painful 4-0 defeat to PSG has brought their Club World Cup journey to an abrupt end, capping off a trophyless season that has ignited strong backlash from fans and media alike.
The manner of the loss, marked by a lack of intensity and team unity, has sparked criticism from many pundits, including outspoken journalist and Real Madrid supporter Edu Aguirre. Speaking during the broadcast of El Chiringuito de Jugones, Aguirre didn't hold back.
“This season is over. And next season, if anyone doesn’t want to run, doesn’t want to commit to the project, doesn’t want to follow Xabi Alonso or fight for the Real Madrid crest—then ask to be sold 15 days in advance or shape up,” he said with frustration.
Though he avoided naming players, his message was clear and direct: “The players must be committed. Just like Xabi Alonso spends 12 hours analyzing rivals, whether he’s right or wrong, Real Madrid's future must be based on work.”
Aguirre also directed his frustration toward the club’s biggest stars, Vinicius, Bellingham, and Mbappé, who haven’t delivered in crucial moments. “Madridistas are devastated because no trophies were won. If the stars don’t want to run, they should be benched or sold,” he concluded forcefully.
