Gonzalo García was one of the standout figures at the fourth edition of the AFE (Spanish Footballers’ Association) Awards Gala, held at the historic Las Ventas bullring in Madrid. The Real Madrid striker was honored for his outstanding season with Castilla, receiving two major accolades — the award for Best Player in Group 2 of the Primera Federación and the Enrique Castro “Quini” Award for Top Scorer of the division.
The academy forward netted 25 goals, setting a new record for the most goals scored in a single season since the creation of the Primera Federación. With that achievement, he also matched Mariano’s tally for the highest number of goals in a regular season for Castilla in the 21st century.
In a video message from his Under-21 national team camp, Gonzalo expressed his gratitude: “As you know, I’m with the Under-21 national team and couldn’t attend the gala. I wanted to thank everyone — the AFE, my teammates who voted for me, and all those who supported me last season at Castilla, including the coaches. Congratulations to all the award winners.”
