Luka Modric could be set for a future reunion with Real Madrid sooner than expected, according to comments made by Davor Suker in an interview on Radio MARCA’s La Tribu program.

The former Croatia international spoke about the future of the current Croatian captain and hinted that a return to the Spanish club should not be ruled out.

Suker, who remains closely connected to Croatian football and follows Modric’s career closely, surprised listeners when asked about the midfielder’s next step.

“Now they asked me where he's going to stay, either in Milan or in Madrid... I think something is going to happen with Real Madrid,” Suker said when discussing Modric’s situation.

When asked directly whether he believed Modric could return to Real Madrid, his response was even more direct.

“He'll definitely come back, but I don't know how... We'll wait until after the World Cup and see what happens.”

Suker did not provide further details on the potential role the midfielder could have at the club, leaving open whether it could involve a playing return or a position within the sporting structure.

When pressed further on the matter, he avoided going into specifics.

“I can't say any more, I can't say any more, mate. Leave it open a little, you can't say everything,” he said with a laugh.

However, he reinforced his belief that Modric will remain linked to Real Madrid in some capacity.

“He's definitely going to do something with Real Madrid, I can assure you of that.”
