The Technical Committee of Referees has addressed the most controversial incidents of the week, including the challenge involving Víctor Reis on Kylian Mbappé that was not awarded as a penalty. The CTA reviewed the action and acknowledged that it could have been given, while also offering justification for the on-field decision.
In the video released by the committee, the play is described as one that is likely to be considered a penalty. However, the CTA supported referee Javier Alberola Rojas for not awarding it and also deemed correct the VAR’s decision not to intervene by sending the referee to review the incident on the monitor.
