Thibaut Courtois produced several impressive saves in Real Madrid’s 4-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano, but one moment during the match briefly raised concerns over his fitness.
The incident came in the 47th minute of the first half when Pedro Díaz unleashed a powerful right-footed shot towards Courtois’ goal. The Belgian goalkeeper dealt with the effort with impressive composure, but appeared to hurt his shoulder during the save.
Courtois was subsequently seen moving his shoulder and placing his hand on it, prompting concerns given the proximity of the Madrid derby.
However, the Real Madrid goalkeeper has moved to reassure fans about his condition. Speaking to Pablo Pinto on the radio programme ‘El Madring’, Courtois confirmed that “everything is fine”, indicating that the shoulder issue is not expected to prevent him from featuring in the derby.
The Belgian’s comments will come as welcome news for Real Madrid, with the crucial clash just around the corner.
