Thibaut Courtois has reaffirmed his commitment to Real Madrid and revealed his desire to finish his career at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The Belgian goalkeeper made the comments during an interview with Onda Cero while representing his national team at the World Cup. Following Belgium's goalless draw against Iran, Courtois spoke openly about his future and his long-term plans with the Spanish giants.
"I want to stay at Real Madrid for another four or five years. I want to retire here. Last year I renewed my contract and nobody knew about it," Courtois said.
The statement not only underlined his loyalty to the club but also revealed the existence of a contract renewal that had not previously been made public.
At 34 years old, Courtois remains one of Real Madrid's most important players and continues to perform at the highest level. His recent display for Belgium once again highlighted his quality, with several key saves helping his team avoid defeat.
The goalkeeper also hinted that the current World Cup could be his final appearance on the international stage. Courtois admitted that this tournament will "probably" be his last with Belgium, suggesting that he is considering stepping away from international football in the near future.
Such a decision would allow him to focus entirely on his club career and prolong his time at the highest level with Real Madrid.
For Madrid supporters, Courtois' words provide reassurance that one of the team's most reliable leaders intends to remain at the club for years to come, with the ultimate goal of ending his career in the famous white shirt.
