Ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with Juventus at the Santiago Bernabéu, Thibaut Courtois addressed the media and came to Vinicius’s defense. The Brazilian winger had been instrumental in the victory over Getafe last Sunday, coming off the bench in the second half to change the course of the game and provoking two red cards for Bordalás’s side.
Courtois didn’t hold back when speaking about his teammate: “It’s not easy. When he was 18, many of you have made fun of him. He didn’t do anything wrong — he came on and they went after him. Naturally, he reacts. They targeted him from the start, but he stayed composed and unsettled the opposition. His impact was huge, helping us create more danger. It’s unfair how he’s treated. He’s a great kid and just needs to keep doing what he’s doing. He’s started the season really well, and I expect the same tomorrow and on Sunday,” said the Belgian goalkeeper.
