Real Madrid continue to search for a central midfielder, and several high-profile names have emerged as potential targets. One of them is Enzo Fernández, a player the club has admired since his breakthrough days at Benfica.
The Argentine international has established himself as one of the most influential midfielders in modern football, playing a key role in Argentina’s triumph at the 2022 World Cup. His profile fits the type of midfielder Real Madrid are believed to be looking for as they plan ahead for the new season.
According to recent reports, Real Madrid are seriously considering a move for Enzo Fernández this summer. His name has gained momentum in recent weeks, partly due to the apparent openness of both Chelsea and the player to explore a transfer that could suit all parties involved.
Chelsea would not let one of their key players leave lightly, but their initial stance appears to have softened. Early reports suggested the London club would demand close to €140 million, a figure that would have made it the most expensive sale in their history.
However, Caught Offside now reports that Chelsea would be willing to negotiate Enzo Fernández’s departure for around €100 million. This figure is notably lower than the €120 million they paid to sign him in 2022 and significantly below the initial expectations surrounding a potential transfer.
