Casemiro left Real Madrid in summer 2022. It was not an easy decision, but he wanted new challenges. He talked about it in an interview with Edu Aguirre of 'El Chiringuito'.

"I wanted new things, a new challenge. I had already won everything. It wasn't easy because people didn't let me get off so easily. But I was clear about it. United have been very good to me from the first day", this is how he explains his decision:

He made his decision after winning the Champions League: "It was after the Champions League. I was at a very good age to have the energy to continue learning. To compete, to continue growing... to continue wanting to win." And that's how he went to the Premier League.

But there was a moment when he hesitated. It was when he saw Carlo Ancelotti crying in his office when he heard the news: "Only once did I have doubts about coming to United. The signing was only pending. And I went to talk to Ancelotti, and when I entered his office, he was crying. He told me that he loved me a lot and he didn't want me to leave..."

Although Casemiro had already made up his mind: "And that was a moment in which I realized that many people loved me very much, but I had already given my word."
