Dani Carvajal has highlighted Vinícius Júnior’s importance to Real Madrid, even when the Brazilian doesn’t start matches.

Vinícius began on the bench against Oviedo in LaLiga, but his impact was immediate—scoring a goal and providing an assist in Madrid’s 3–0 win.

Asked whether starting him as a substitute could be a motivational tactic, Carvajal explained:

"I think we should take advantage of it. In the Oviedo game, he came on, scored, and assisted. In the following round, he scored again. He needs to understand that it’s very difficult to maintain top form while playing 60 matches with just three days of rest.

"Vinícius, with his skill and abilities, can change games in just half an hour. I think the coach’s idea is that we all need to be ready to play, and often the substitute is even more important than the starter."

Carvajal’s words underline both Vinícius’s decisive quality and Xabi Alonso’s approach to squad management in a demanding season.
