Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal has voiced his opposition to the decision to stage the LaLiga clash between Villarreal and Barcelona in Miami, USA, describing it as “a clear adulteration of the competition.”
Speaking to Teledeporte, Carvajal insisted that all teams should compete under equal conditions. “It seems to me a clear adulteration of the competition, which doesn’t allow all LaLiga teams to compete on the same terms. I think it’s essential that we — the players, the clubs, and the league itself — ensure fairness. We must defend what’s right, and I don’t think this is it,” he said firmly.
This controversy comes amid growing unrest among players. During the latest round of fixtures, including Monday’s Alavés–Valencia game, players paused for the opening seconds as part of a coordinated protest organized by AFE, the Spanish players’ union. The gesture was meant to denounce “LaLiga’s lack of transparency, dialogue, and consistency” over its plan to play the Villarreal–Barcelona match — scheduled for December 20 — in Miami, Florida.
