However, negotiations have stalled due to Benfica’s reluctance to release the player early. As a result, Carreras will remain with the Portuguese side for the tournament and travel to the United States as part of their squad, a development that has disrupted Madrid's initial timeline.

Despite the delay, all indications suggest the transfer is essentially agreed upon and will be completed immediately after the Club World Cup. Carreras has made no secret of his desire to join Real Madrid, a sentiment subtly expressed in a recent social media post where he shared a training photo accompanied by a white heart emoji, widely interpreted as a nod to the Merengues.
