Eduardo Camavinga has issued a public apology following Real Madrid’s Champions League elimination in Munich. A day after being singled out for the defeat, the midfielder shared a message on social media: "I take responsibility. I want to apologize to my teammates and the fans. Thank you for your support. Hala Madrid, always."
With these words, Camavinga acknowledged his role in the sending-off that proved decisive in the match. His dismissal had a significant impact on the team, which had been leading before being reduced to ten men, as well as on supporters who had believed in a potential comeback.
The French midfielder was on the pitch for 24 minutes and received two yellow cards within eight minutes. The first came after a foul on Jamal Musiala, while the second was shown for delaying play following a foul on Harry Kane. The second booking and resulting red card generated controversy around the refereeing decisions, but it ultimately left Camavinga at the center of criticism.
Real Madrid were ahead in Munich prior to the dismissal, but after going down to ten players, Álvaro Arbeloa’s side conceded late goals that led to both defeat on the night and elimination from the competition.
