Jude Bellingham’s fitness situation is causing growing concern at Real Madrid. The English midfielder, who was injured during the match against Rayo Vallecano on February 1, appears to have suffered a setback in his recovery.
Initial medical estimates suggested he would be sidelined for around a month, but uncertainty now surrounds his return timeline. According to ESPN, Bellingham’s comeback could be pushed back until April — potentially extending his absence by several weeks beyond the original prognosis.
The development represents a significant blow for both the player and Álvaro Arbeloa, who has relied heavily on the midfielder this season. Real Madrid are already preparing to navigate the most demanding stretch of the campaign without their No. 5.
So far, Los Blancos have responded well in his absence, winning five of their last six matches, including the Champions League tie against Benfica. However, Bellingham now looks set to miss the Round of 16 clash against either Sporting Lisbon or Manchester City.
The setback also raises questions regarding his involvement with England. With an international break scheduled in March, Bellingham is not expected to join the national team as he continues his recovery. After a stellar 2023/24 campaign, the midfielder has yet to rediscover that same level of consistency this season, and his prolonged absence only complicates matters further.
