Jude Bellingham was voted Man of the Match in Real Madrid’s win over Pachuca and spoke openly in the press room afterward. The English midfielder confirmed that he will undergo shoulder surgery once the Club World Cup concludes.
Reflecting on the game, Bellingham admitted things started poorly after Asencio's early red card but praised the team’s ability to adapt: "It was a collective error. We created a disadvantage, and Asencio had to commit the foul. But we adjusted well. Xabi Alonso is a top coach. I speak with him a lot, and we’re very happy with the ideas he’s bringing in for this new era.”
What stood out most for him was how the team responded: "After going down to ten men, it got tough. But we stayed calm and showed personality. Courtois was excellent. It wasn’t a perfect performance, but it shows we’re growing.”
Bellingham also revealed that he’s been struggling physically: "The pain is manageable now, but I’m tired of playing with a sling. I’m losing a lot of weight from sweating so much. I’ll have surgery after the tournament; I’ve been patient long enough. I just want to feel free again. The physios and doctors have done a great job.”
Finally, he touched on his evolving role: "I started more centrally today, but my position shifted. I’m comfortable as an eight or a ten, but I love getting into the box and creating chances; that’s where I feel most dangerous.”
