Real Madrid's sporting department has been evaluating options for several months and believes reinforcing the defence is essential. With the summer transfer window approaching, Alessandro Bastoni and Ibrahima Konaté have emerged as the leading candidates to bolster the backline.

Bastoni has become a serious option in recent weeks, with the Italian defender reportedly highly regarded by José Mourinho. Meanwhile, interest in Konaté has intensified following reports that the Liverpool centre-back has rejected a contract renewal after lengthy negotiations.

According to the report, both defenders fit Real Madrid's profile. At 27 years old, Bastoni and Konaté are considered to be in their prime, have extensive experience at the highest level of European football, and possess qualities that are highly valued by the club.
