Barcelona's sponsorship agreement with the Democratic Republic of Congo has reportedly become the subject of a legal complaint in Spain.
According to El Confidencial, two Congolese citizens living in France have filed a complaint with the Barcelona Provincial Prosecutor's Office against the Catalan club and the Democratic Republic of Congo's Minister of Sport over the partnership agreement.
The complainants have questioned the legality and circumstances surrounding the deal and are seeking an investigation by the Spanish authorities.
The Public Prosecutor's Office will now review the documentation submitted before deciding whether to open a formal investigation or dismiss the complaint.
The agreement was presented as a partnership aimed at promoting Barcelona's image in the Democratic Republic of Congo while using sport to support tourism and economic development. However, the complainants allege that the deal involved the misuse of public funds.
