Raúl Asencio scored Real Madrid’s second goal against Levante with a header at the Santiago Bernabéu and later spoke to Realmadrid TV about the significance of the win. “Today was a very important day in front of our fans. Everyone wanted to turn things around. What happened the other day in Albacete shouldn’t have happened, and we felt guilty and indebted to the fans,” the defender admitted.
Asencio highlighted the team’s reaction, especially after the break. “The team showed a good image, particularly in the second half, and that’s the path we have to follow. We talked things through in the locker room and reached a shared conclusion. It’s important to talk, to listen to the coach’s opinion, and thanks to that we were able to turn things around.”
Speaking about Álvaro Arbeloa’s message since taking over, Asencio explained: “From the first day, he’s asked the same thing of us: to enjoy ourselves. We want to be the protagonists in every match, to dominate, to focus on ourselves rather than the opponent. That’s very important, and little by little we’ll get there.”
The defender also reflected on scoring again at the Bernabéu. “I’m getting used to it. I’m very happy. I feel the support of the fans every day, whether I play at home or away, in the street or on social media. It means a lot to me, and I hope it continues like this for a long time.”
