Raúl Asencio was stretchered off wearing a neck brace in the closing stages of Real Madrid’s clash against Benfica after a heavy aerial collision with Eduardo Camavinga.
The center-back suffered a strong impact while challenging for the ball and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical tests to determine the exact extent of the injury.
After the match, Álvaro Arbeloa offered a reassuring update on the defender’s condition. “It’s something related to his neck, but it doesn’t seem serious,” the Real Madrid coach explained.
Asencio later eased concerns himself via social media, confirming he was fine and celebrating the team’s qualification for the Champions League Round of 16. “Thanks for all the messages of support! It was just a scare. Let’s go for the next round. HALA MADRID!!!” he wrote on Instagram.
