Arsenal are stepping up their efforts in the summer transfer market, aiming to build a squad capable of finally securing the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta. After narrowly missing out in recent seasons, the Gunners are demonstrating serious ambition. With Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martín Zubimendi already confirmed as new signings, the next big target is Rodrygo Goes.
According to AS, Arsenal have identified the Real Madrid forward as their top priority to strengthen the attack alongside Bukayo Saka. Talks with Rodrygo’s camp have reportedly been ongoing for years, and Arsenal are now prepared to make a move worth over €90 million, a figure that would make the Brazilian the most expensive signing of the summer.
However, Rodrygo has asked to delay any negotiations until after the Club World Cup, preferring to remain fully focused on his responsibilities with Real Madrid. After the tournament, a key conversation is expected between the player and manager Xabi Alonso to define his role in next season’s squad. If Alonso does not see him as a central figure, as some recent signs suggest, Rodrygo may be open to a move, provided he has a say in choosing his next destination.
For Arsenal, landing Rodrygo would be the crown jewel in a summer strategy that also includes moves for Valencia’s Mosquera, a striker (with Sesko or Gyökeres among the favorites), and a creative midfielder like Eberechi Eze. Before making all these additions, the club also plans to finalize several outgoing transfers to balance the books.
