In a stunning development, Argentine journalist Gustavo Méndez has claimed that Enzo Fernández is on the verge of signing with Real Madrid. Speaking on the program La Posta, Méndez revealed that the Chelsea midfielder has already begun house-hunting in Madrid with his partner — a strong sign that a deal may be in motion.

“I have a world bombshell. A member of the Argentine national team is going to play for the best club in the world — Real Madrid,” Méndez stated. “You know how I found out? Because they’ve already been looking at homes in Madrid, in the same area where Atlético striker Julián Álvarez lives. I’m talking about Enzo Fernández. He’s already looking at houses to buy.”

According to Méndez, Fernández has already held meetings with Real Madrid officials, despite the club likely denying any contact. He says a lucrative contract has been offered, and that the move would become official after the Club World Cup, scheduled for this summer in the United States.

Real Madrid has long admired Enzo Fernández, especially during his time at Benfica, when he was one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe. However, when Benfica demanded €120 million, only Chelsea was willing to meet the fee.

Now, just a year and a half later, the 2022 World Cup winner could finally be making his way to the Santiago Bernabéu, potentially bolstering Xabi Alonso’s midfield for the upcoming season.
