Arda Güler is also beginning to stand out in the physical aspect of the game. During Wednesday’s training session, the Turkish midfielder posted the best results in the physical tests designed by Real Madrid’s new fitness coach, Antonio Pintus.
The session featured a series of advanced assessments using metabolic masks, a technology that measures oxygen intake and CO2 output in real time. These tests allow the coaching staff to closely analyze each player’s aerobic capacity, respiratory efficiency, and overall physical exertion.
In this demanding context, Güler outperformed the rest of the squad, a particularly striking result given the physical profile of many of his teammates, who are considered stronger on paper. His performance reinforces the internal belief that the youngster has taken a significant step forward, not only tactically by adapting to a different role on the pitch, but also physically, a key requirement to compete regularly at Real Madrid.
According to the club, this testing methodology helps fine-tune workloads, optimize performance throughout the season, and gain a clearer picture of each player’s current condition. Beyond the media attention surrounding Pintus’s methods, the internal message is clear: Güler is meeting the physical demands of elite football.
This progress also helps dispel the long-standing perception that his physique is not suited to playing in midfield. His Champions League data supports this view, as Güler is one of the Real Madrid players who covers the most ground during matches, alongside Tchouaméni and Jude Bellingham. All three average around 10 kilometers per 90 minutes, with the Turkish midfielder totaling 55.6 kilometers across 556 minutes played.
Fran García, Fede Valverde, and David Alaba also stood out positively in the physical evaluations conducted by the coaching staff.
