Polishing a diamond takes time and investment — and Xabi Alonso’s trust in Arda Güler is proving just that. The Turkish midfielder has now reached 75 appearances for Real Madrid, and this achievement comes at a cost for the club. According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Real Madrid must pay Fenerbahçe two million euros after Güler hit this milestone.

The agreement includes two more performance bonuses: at 100 and 125 appearances. Each activates an additional two-million-euro payment to the Istanbul club. While reaching 125 seems out of reach this season, reaching 100 is highly realistic if Güler keeps his role under Xabi Alonso and stays injury-free. With 27 league games guaranteed and up to 50 matches across La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Champions League, he would only need 25 more appearances for Fenerbahçe to receive another payout this season. The Turkish club has already earned four million euros when Güler completed his 25th and 50th matches, the latter coming in last season’s Copa del Rey final.

Whether starting regularly or coming off the bench on rare occasions, Arda Güler has featured in all 14 of Real Madrid’s games this season, totaling 929 minutes. At just 20 years old, he is steadily cementing his place in the squad. With sharp finishing and a strong connection with Kylian Mbappé, the Ankara-born talent has already contributed to nine goals this season (three goals and six assists).
