Álvaro Arbeloa spoke to Movistar+ after Real Madrid’s elimination against Bayern Munich, pointing to the decisive moment of the match following Eduardo Camavinga’s sending-off at the Allianz Arena.
Asked whether the red card changed everything, Arbeloa was clear: "It's obvious, you can't send off a player for something like that, the referee didn't even know he had a card and he ruined a very beautiful, very evenly matched tie, at its peak, and that's where the game ended."
On Camavinga’s reaction, he added: "Like everyone else."
Reflecting on the performance, Arbeloa praised his players: "It was a great match from my players, I feel for them, for the effort they made, for the Madrid fans who came and those who watched at home, it hurts because Madrid is not going to win the sixteenth this year, but we return to Madrid with our badge because they gave everything."
He also addressed missed opportunities: "We had some chances to score a goal, we had some tired players, but we were going to make changes just before the goal and with that goal it was over."
Looking ahead, Arbeloa remained focused: "Onward, this is Real Madrid, the league is very complicated but even on the day it ends we will have to keep fighting until the last matchday, we have a badge to defend."
