Álvaro Arbeloa faced the media at the Carlos Belmonte Stadium to assess his first match as Real Madrid head coach.

“At this club, even a draw feels like a tragedy. Imagine a defeat like this,” Arbeloa said. “It hurts, and I’m sure all the fans are hurting too, especially when it comes against a lower-division team. We already know how difficult any opponent can be, and we experienced that against Talavera as well.”

The coach took full responsibility for the loss. “If anyone is to blame for this defeat, it’s me. I made the decisions regarding the lineup, the way we wanted to play, and the substitutions. I can only thank the players for the way they welcomed me and for the effort they showed today.”

Looking ahead, Arbeloa stressed the need to move forward quickly. “Now my job is to help the players recover, both mentally and physically. We have to improve and focus on Saturday’s match.”
