The Appeals Committee has rejected Real Madrid’s attempt to overturn the red card shown to Dean Huijsen in the match against Real Sociedad. Despite presenting video evidence and referencing the Antony case from earlier this year, Madrid’s claims were dismissed.
The committee emphasized that the referee’s report remains decisive, noting that “the play admits different interpretations, including that made by the referee.” It added that no manifest material error was proven and confirmed that arbitration decisions fall within the referee’s technical scope and are not subject to review in this process.
Regarding the Antony precedent, the committee clarified that it is not within its competence to compare rulings from different proceedings, especially those resolved by other disciplinary bodies. Consequently, Huijsen’s red card remains in force, and Real Madrid’s appeal has been fully rejected.
