The majority of 2023 has been dominated by speculation over Carlo Ancelotti's future. His Real Madrid contract expires in the summer, and as of right now, there have been no discussions about a renewal.
Ancelotti has been strongly linked with the position of Brazil national team head coach, and Brazilian Football Federation President Ednaldo Rodrigues has been the primary supporter of this interest. However, this pursuit has been seriously called into doubt now.
Globo reports that Rodrigues was dismissed from his position as CBF president following a judicial vote and that Jose Perdiz, the President of Brazil's Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD), took his place. Rodrigues, however, retains the right to file an appeal.
The impact of these events on Ancelotti's future is still unclear, but in recent weeks, he seems more interested in staying at Real Madrid, at least publicly, and this might be the tipping point for him and for the club.
