Carreras spent three years in Real Madrid’s academy before leaving for Manchester United as a free agent while still in the U19 category. He reportedly remains fond of the club and confident in his ability to compete for a spot at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Although Benfica are known for setting high price tags—reportedly around €50 million—the club sees Carreras as a more realistic option than other names on the list, such as Milos Kerkez. While not as affordable as Miguel Gutiérrez, who could return for just €8 million, Carreras offers a more complete and modern profile.

With both Ferland Mendy and Fran García facing scrutiny, Álvaro Carreras is firmly on Real Madrid’s radar. The summer transfer window hasn’t even opened, but the groundwork at Valdebebas is already well underway.
