The Jude Bellingham who dazzled everyone in his first season at Real Madrid has yet to reappear. Although his goal and assist numbers remained strong last year, the overall feeling was no longer the same as before. This season, the situation has worsened further.
The English midfielder has even faced boos from the Santiago Bernabéu crowd in recent La Liga matches against Levante and Rayo Vallecano, becoming one of the main targets of fan criticism. To make matters worse, he is now set to miss several weeks through injury.
In recent weeks, social media has been flooded with rumors about Bellingham’s life off the pitch, as well as suggestions of strained relationships with certain coaches. Journalist Eduardo Inda hinted at this situation on El Chiringuito de Jugones.
“It already happened with Carlo Ancelotti, and especially with Xabi Alonso,” Inda said. “Jude Bellingham’s relationship with the coach from Tolosa was somewhere between bad and very bad. The Basque coach constantly asked him to drop deeper.”
Inda also revealed details of conversations involving Bellingham and his coaches. “In his first season at Real Madrid, the team didn’t have a natural number nine, so he played very high up the pitch and scored a lot of goals. He tried to continue playing that way after Kylian Mbappé arrived. Ancelotti asked him to drop back, and sometimes he did, sometimes he didn’t. Xabi Alonso asked the same, but Jude didn’t pay much attention. Now Arbeloa has also asked him to play deeper.”
It remains to be seen whether Bellingham will follow Arbeloa’s instructions when he returns from injury.
