Xabi Alonso addressed the media after Real Madrid’s loss to Celta Vigo at the Santiago Bernabéu. The defeat leaves Los Blancos four points behind Barcelona, who have built a nine-point advantage since El Clásico. Madrid ended the match with nine players after the dismissals of Fran García and Álvaro Carreras.
The coach expressed clear dissatisfaction with the referee’s performance, which he believes harmed his team: “The referee’s decisions frustrated us. First Álvaro’s sending off, then the constant delays… He was not stopping Celta’s time-wasting or warning them, he allowed everything. I did not like his approach. Carreras’s yellow card was very questionable, it felt like he was looking for it. That disrupted us in key moments of the match. I did not like the refereeing today.”
