Real Madrid's first preseason friendly against Fiorentina ended in a 2-2 draw, but the match produced one of the most encouraging stories of the summer: the emergence of academy talent Alexis Ciria.

The young forward, given the opportunity by José Mourinho to make his first-team debut, made an immediate impact by scoring Real Madrid's second goal of the match. His rise has been remarkable, especially considering that just 10 months ago he was playing for Sevilla C.

According to Post United, Ciria's progress over the past year has been extraordinary. In November 2025, he was still competing at Sevilla C level. Just one month later, he earned promotion to Sevilla Atlético, the club's reserve side.

During the winter transfer window, Ciria joined Real Madrid, beginning his journey with Juvenil A. Only two months later, he moved up to the C team before eventually making the step to Castilla, where he finished the season with three goals and two assists.

His impressive development earned him a place in Mourinho's preseason squad, and he took full advantage of his opportunity against Fiorentina by scoring on his first-team debut.

Speaking after the match, Ciria described the emotions of his first appearance: "At first I was a little nervous, but once I stepped onto the pitch they disappeared because I was doing what I love. When the ball came to me, my world seemed to close up, and once I saw it go in, it was such a relief."

Ciria's transformation over the last 10 months has been remarkable. If he continues performing at this level during preseason, the academy graduate could earn further opportunities with the first team and continue building Mourinho's trust.
