Real Madrid completed their final preparations for their Copa del Rey debut against Talavera with some positive news: David Alaba has returned to full training. After almost a month sidelined by injury, the Austrian defender trained normally under Xabi Alonso, providing a much-needed boost for a defense that has struggled in recent weeks.
However, there is still uncertainty over whether Alaba will be included in the squad for the match in Talavera or if the coaching staff will opt to delay his return to competitive action a little longer.
Alaba’s comeback comes amid several notable absences. Valverde, Rüdiger, Mbappé, and Ceballos all trained indoors, with the first three expected to be rested entirely for the Copa del Rey tie and unlikely to make the trip. Ceballos’ situation is more surprising, as he is currently expected to start against Talavera unless there is a last-minute setback.
