Real Madrid have developed a structured model that allows the club to generate significant revenue through the sale of academy players from La Fábrica.

Although no academy graduate has fully established himself in the first team in recent years, despite several Castilla players contributing during the current season, the youth system continues to provide a steady financial return worth millions of euros.

In total, Real Madrid have reportedly earned around €600 million from academy-related transfers since 2005. In recent seasons, however, this strategy has become even more prominent due to the club’s evolving transfer model.

A key feature of recent departures is that Real Madrid often retain control over their former academy players. In many cases, when players move to clubs in major European leagues, the club includes clauses that allow them to keep around 50% of future rights, ensuring either a return option or profit from subsequent transfers.

The recent case of Víctor Muñoz highlights this approach, with Real Madrid reportedly earning up to €20 million following his departure from Osasuna to Liverpool. The situation involving Nico Paz also reflects this policy, as his transfer to Como was structured in a way that allowed Real Madrid to benefit financially while maintaining influence over his future, with the club ultimately receiving around €60 million after his permanent move.
