Trent Alexander-Arnold brought his first season at Real Madrid to a close with a message to supporters reflecting on a difficult adaptation period and thanking the fans for their support throughout the campaign.
The English full-back arrived last summer as one of the club’s major signings, but his first months in Madrid were marked by injuries and inconsistent performances. Defensive mistakes also led to criticism during parts of the season.
Despite those difficulties, Alexander-Arnold showed improvement in the final stretch of the campaign and ended the year in stronger form.
“Madridistas, you have welcomed me with open arms. From the first day I arrived, you have protected me,” he said.
The defender also admitted that adapting to his new surroundings took time.
“It took me a few months to find my rhythm and adapt to the new environment, but now I feel completely at home.”
Inside the club, there is confidence that the England international can take another step forward next season if he maintains the level he displayed in the closing weeks of the campaign.
Alexander-Arnold will now use the summer to recover physically and prepare for next season after being left out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup.
“I will take a good break and work hard during the summer. I promise we will bring trophies back to this incredible club next season.”
