Sergio Ramos may have doubts about staying on at Real Madrid, but his decision over his future is not set in stone.
Real Madrid directors hope that Zinedine Zidane can persuade the centre-back to stay for next season and the coach and player had a lengthy discussion at the end of the 2018/19 season.
Ramos told Zidane what he was thinking and revealed his doubts.
The Frenchman reacted positively and is doing all he can to help the captain feel comfortable enough to want to continue at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Zidane considers Ramos as an essential player as they understand each other so well and the coach thinks the defender is vital both on an off the pitch.
Zidane is confident that the club and Florentino Perez will be able to turn the situation around enough that Ramos will stay.
Ramos is currently on holiday in the United States and will meet the president when he returns.
The situation is less tense than it was in the summer of 2016 when there was also the potential for an exit and when the man from Seville ultimately signed a new contract.
If Ramos is to leave then many different clubs would be interested, but for now the only real offer he has received has been from China.
Zidane, though, wants him to stay in the Spanish capital and is confident that this will happen.
