Real Madrid find themselves 16 points behind Barcelona in the LaLiga table and they need to start working harder to try to pull themselves out of a sticky situation.
That was Zinedine Zidane’s message for his players, who he gathered together and spoke at length to at Tuesday’s training session at Valdebebas.
“When things don’t work out as we hope, we have work to do,” Zidane later explained to reporters at his press conference.
“I think the players are thinking the same thing.
“We are going to work harder than ever, in every sense.
“It’s not a physical or mental thing, just a bit of everything.”
He was asked further questions about his discussion with the group, but wouldn’t give away any more details.
“If I call the players for a chat, it’s because I want to gain something from it,” the coach said.
“I’m not going to tell you what we talked about, but these are talks that can happen with any team.
“You can analyse whatever way you like and say that we are going through a time of crisis.
“But what we want to do is find solutions, talk about it and try to do things better.
“We talked a little longer than usual, but it was nothing irregular.”
