Zinedine Zidane met with former teammate Guti, as well as Almeria owner Turki Al-Sheikh, with the latter making a joke about the Frenchman’s infamous headbutt on Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup final.
The Real Madrid head coach handed Al-Sheikh a signed shirt from his team with his name and the number he wore during his time as a player.
Guti and Zidane have a good relationship since they played alongside each other at Real Madrid and subsequently came up as coaches together at Valdebebas.
When the Frenchman went up to train the first team, Guti was the coach of Real Madrid‘s Juvenil A.
Now, Guti – who now goes by his full name as a head coach: Jose Maria Gutierrez – is doing well as Almeria head coach, with his team having beaten Lugo 4-0 on Saturday.
Al-Sheikh shared the video of him jokingly headbutting Zidane‘s chest on social media, which provoked a response from Materazzi.
“Hi Boss, how are you? Hope to see you soon,” the Italian tweeted.
