“Benzema is a match-winner because what he’s doing is on a different level, not just because of the goals,” Zinedine Zidane said after Madrid’s crucial 3-1 win at Eibar on Sunday night.
The coach added: “I always repeat myself saying the same thing about Karim. It’s not only his goals, he’s a focal point in our game. He’s very important for us and when he scores, it’s even better, obviously, but he’s very important for our team.”
Last week, Zidane made a bold claim, saying that Benzema is the best French striker in history.
This season, the 33-year-old has scored 11 goals in 17 games. He opened the scoring against Eibar and beat Thierry Henry to become the highest-scoring Frenchman in 1 of the top 5 European leagues other than the Ligue 1.
