Barcelona were desperate to bring Vinicius Junior to the Camp Nou but the Brazilian preferred the project that was on offer at Real Madrid, rather than accepting more money from the Catalans.
The teen chose Madrid though and has since become a star at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
“My father never told me of interest until Barcelona and Real Madrid,” Vinicius said to Cadena Ser.
“Then we visited both clubs and liked them both.
“Barcelona wanted to pay more but we wanted the best project and Marcelo and Casemiro spoke to me and helped me to decide.”
Vinicus has exploded onto the scene at Madrid, and he himself admits that things have moved rapidly.
“It’s all been very fast,” he confessed.
“Marcelo and Casemiro told me that everything here happens fast.
“Nobody thought I would play outside of Brazil.”
Injury has ruled the Brazilian out for much of what remains of the season, but he says he is making progress.
“I’m slowly getting better,” he revealed.
“We’re working to get back as soon as possible. I cried with the pain, as I did at the match.
“I hope to play again before the end of the season, I’ll have an idea on Wednesday but I will try to get back as soon as possible.”
