Speaking to Goal, Villarreal forward Samu Chukwueze has suggested that it’s far too early for La Liga to determine the champion despite the coronavirus crisis.
“It will be unfair to give Barcelona the title. There are just two points that separate them from Real Madrid.”
The 20-year-old believes the league will be completed and everyone is full of desire to get back to action.
“Everyone wants to play, I think the league is still open,” he adds.
It’s not hard to get Chukwueze’s point, actually. Villarreal currently sit in 8th place in La Liga and have certain chances of qualifying for European football.
Since there’s a small decline in the number of coronavirus cases in Spain, the football competition is likely to resume. The league president, Javier Tebas, has recently revealed three possible dates to continue the season: 28 May, 6 June or 28 June.
