Varane out for a month

Raphael Varane is set to miss both legs of the Champions League quarter final, the Madrid derby and El Clasico through injury.

The French international pulled up with a hamstring injury in the early minutes of Sunday’s 3-0 win over Alaves and is set to miss the entire month of April.

Real Madrid confirmed the injury on their website and gave no indications of a timescale for returning, only that he would continue to be assessed.

Varane will also miss La Liga clashes against Leganes, Sporting Gijon and Deportivo La Coruna but should return in time for the league run-in during May.
