Even though the UK government has introduced a 14-day quarantine for people arriving in the country from Spain, Real Madrid will be able to travel to England for their Champions League last 16 second leg away at Manchester City.
Exceptions to the rules are made for top-level sports teams, as the UK’s ambassador to Spain Hugh Elliot has explained.
“There is a list of exceptions for this quarantine and elite sportspeople are on that list,” he explained during an appearance on La Sexta’s ‘Al Rojo Vivo’ programme.
“But, they don’t have complete freedom.
“Their movements will be controlled so that the match can be held.
“They’ll be inside a bubble in order to reduce the risk.”
