The number that Hazard will wear in Real Madrid

09 Apr 2019

Eden Hazard already knows the number he will wear on his back at Real Madrid next season. The Belgian footballer has the promise of the white club that he will inherit the ‘7’ that Cristiano Ronaldo wore and that right now is in the hands of Mariano Díaz.

Real Madrid has to start making decisions about some players ahead of next season. And one of those players who have very complicated continuity is Mariano Díaz. The striker of Dominican origin has disappointed this season, not so much for his level of play but for the continuous injuries he has been suffering from. His goodbye is almost a fact for the next summer.

In fact, the player himself considers a way out after seeing how he has hardly played a leading role either with Lopetegui or with Solari when he has been available. For this reason, it is more than likely that 7 of Juanito, Butragueño, Raúl and Cristiano Ronaldo is free. Real Madrid had high expectations with Mariano, but the loan is over for him and he will lose his place.

As confirmed by a source close to the club, the intention is that Hazard be the player who takes that mythical number on his back from next summer. The white club would have already committed to the Belgian to give him such an honor, in what would be a declaration of intent on his role as the star of the best club in the world.

In fact, Hazard would get the possibility of taking the number ’10’ in the case that Modric leaves next summer. That will create the chance for the Belgian to choose between two of the most ‘special’ numbers in the history of the white club.
