The works to redevelop the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu are underway after a five-year effort to put the plan in motion.
Just six days after the final Real Madrid match of the season, fences have been put up around the shopping centre – called La Esquina del Bernabeu – at the corner of the ground.
Soon the building will be demolished, with the work to begin in the coming days.
There is still one more fixture to be held at the stadium before the summer, with Spain taking on Sweden on June 10, and the construction work will seriously get going after that match.
Overall, the redevelopment project should last around three and a half years.
